Introducing Te Whau Lodge

Sunsets don't get much better than from the views at Te Whau Lodge, perched up high looking out over Waiheke and the Hauraki Gulf. It's always such a pleasure catching up with owners Liz Eglinton and Gene O’Neill, you feel instantly welcome at the Lodge and totally at home. They offer that great kiwi hospitality with a relaxed laidback feel, and with Gene being such a great cook it makes dining-in at the Lodge a preference. This is the kind of place I'd like to escape to for a weekend away, and it is definitely set-up for that romantic getaway with a loved one, or an intimate gathering with family or friends. There is sophistication yet with a warm and friendly vibe. Most evenings you’ll find a casual two-course plat du jour meal on the menu, and they can cater for sit down dining of up to twelve, or twenty for buffet style.
Along with sharing a passion for great food and wine, Liz and Gene have a special connection with the South of France, making the annual trip over to one of their favourite villages; Marseillan in the Languedoc. These trips are enjoyed with fellow foodies, and have become a whole cuisine and travel experience in themselves. Not a bad way to pick up some new recipes for the kitchen whilst escaping a little of the Winter!
This is definitely a place for booking in a weekend away, or guest accommodation for a Waiheke wedding, where relaxation and enjoying some fine food and wine will be a priority on the schedule.
You can find Te Whau Lodge at 36 Vintage Lane, Te Whau Point, Waiheke Island.
